6 Powerful Tools To Master Your Writing Process

Do you believe that you must dedicate more resources and time to blogging? Even though you’re comfortable with the numerous benefits of blogging, you may be hesitant for a few reasons. Most of the time, you don’t understand what topics to write about, you don’t have the time to do it, and you’ve never had any success with it in the past.

There are many marketers being held back by one other thing: they lack the skills, knowledge and the tools required to take a blog post from beginning to end. It’s easy to be intimidated by the thought of making a long form site post. By using these tools, it’s a lot easier to economically make your post.

Today, I’ll give you 6 of my favourite tools that will help direct the blogging process from starting to end.

1. Evernote

Evernote

Everybody on my team knows how much I love Evernote.  It’s one of the tools that I can’t go a day without.  Use Evernote to document your thoughts.  Often those ideas can develop into great content and with Evernote you can easily index everything and quickly pull up any note.

It also includes a Work Chat, which allows you to share notes back and forth between your team, much like Google Docs.  We use it to quickly draft up ideas for our content and build on the original thoughts to become full, fleshed-out posts.

2. Google Keyword Planner

When drafting a post, you must talk to your audience. You need to provide premium quality and exceptional guidance that gives readers something of actual worth. Choosing the right keyword is very important. You can provide value and still rank your posts to give you traffic.

To start, come up with the idea of what you want to blog about (maybe it is somewhere back in your Evernote). You don’t have to go too in-depth yet. For instance, you may want to write a blog post about how to save money. That is likely quite vague for a blog post, so you’ll want to run a search to see more in depth.

The more you experiment with keywords and understand the data, the better blog posts you will make.  For example, you could hone in on “how to invest properly,” as this is less competitive and more specific than some of the other terms.

3. BuzzSumo

Once you cement your keyword, it’s time to take another step. Using the same example, let’s run an internet search “how to invest better.” The very best results are on the left side of the page and show you the author, publish date, and URL of each piece of content.

This might give you some inspiration on your name. Don’t be scared by the numbers. Remember, all these are the best performing posts with the most shares based on your keyword search.

You may not be as successful as you hope in the beginning. That’s perfectly fine. You’re trying to learn what kind of content performs best. As you learn, you will be more confident in your choices.

4. HubSpot’s Blog Topic Generator

A powerful blog post title drives users to your site.  It needs to be creative and distinctive. You want readers to be attracted by it and provide them with reasons to read the entire post. The Hubspot Blog Topic Generator is a great, popular tool.  It’s simple to use and helps get the creative juices flowing.

Over time, you’ll get a better notion of what does and doesn’t work.  You’ll want to test several different search terms (always experiment). This is the best solution to get an extensive understanding of your topic.

If you find something you like in the first attempt, move forward to the next step. Otherwise, try again.  There’ll be times when you do a search, locate a name you love and pick it.  There is going to be other times when you need to get somewhat creative and build off of one of these simple thoughts.

If you fight to create exceptional headlines and content that engage your audience, the Hubspot Blog Topic Generator is a great place to start.

5. Hemingway App

So far, we’ve discussed two primary steps:

  • How to select the proper keyword on your blog post.
  • How to create a distinct name from on your keyword.

It ’s time to proceed to the actual writing of the blog.

A good title and keywords won’t help you if you don’t have anything of value to provide. You want the level of quality of your blog post to be on par, or better compared to the rest of your industry. If you’re new to blogging or have been writing content for a long time, it doesn’t matter, the Hemingway App is something that could enhance your writing.

To start copy and paste your articles into the tool at http://www.hemingwayapp.com/

In an ideal world, your content is already perfect. In actuality, it’s likely that the Hemingway App will determine some places that you can enhance. You can get a higher level overview in the tool sidebar. This highlights very clearly how many problem areas you have to deal with. When something is highlighted, it means that you have some changes to make. For instance, yellow means a sentence needs to be shortened or split in two. A sentence that is too complex is pointed out by a red highlight.

Be sure to send your content through the Hemingway App one final time once you make the required changes. This will ensure your article is prepared for publishing. You need to practice if you intend to become a better writer.  And, if you need some support along the way, the Hemingway App is a fantastic solution.
